The Partisan pays its tribute to Comrade Luis G. Jalandoni who passed away on June 7, 2025, at the age of 90. He was a lifelong leader of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) who dedicated his life to the freedom and happiness of the Filipino people.

For decades, Ka Louie, as his comrades affectionately call him, was active on the front line of revolutionary struggle. Originally a Catholic priest, he closely integrated with the workers and peasants during the 1960s, leading the first major labor strike under the martial law of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos and playing an instrumental role in the founding and building of the NDFP.

By 1973, Ka Louie was imprisoned for his work during the fascist Marcos dictatorship and subsequently exiled from the Philippines after his release, never to return to his homeland. Despite this, his passion and dedication for the New Democratic Revolution never waned. From his base in the Netherlands, Ka Louie completed many tasks given to him by the NDFP, serving as a well-known representative of the genuine aspirations of the Filipino people.

As the editorial board of The Partisan, we extend our condolences to his spouse Comrade Coni Ledesma, to the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, and the entire Filipino people. Despite this great loss, we firmly believe that the Filipino people will continue to carry forward their New Democratic Revolution until the end, resolving the three basic problems of imperialism, semi-feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism once and for all.
