The Partisan is republishing this statement from the Revolutionary Students Front in West Bengal state of India from May 12 regarding the illegal abduction of two people, accused by the Indian Old State of being members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). In India, this accusation carries with it a death sentence, under the Surajkund Scheme and Operation Kagar. RSF believes it is highly likely that they were transported to Jharkhand state to be summarily executed under the guise of a fake military “encounter”. Their whereabouts are currently unknown.
Incident:
On 11th May, at 4:30 am, a house of an Adivasi member of APDR, Kishore Sardar, resident of Kashimpur village, Chakdah PS, Nadia, West Bengal, was raided by unknown police personnel in civil dress. 12 personnels entered the house, nad it was surrounded by 6-7 vehicles. They claimed 2 ailing people residing in the house, among them one female, were wanted Maoists, and took them, without telling anything about where they were taken and on what charges to the wife of Kishore Sardar, despite she asking them. By afternoon, APDR issued a press statement regarding this incident and moved to Chakdah PS, placing deputation to IC and asking about their whereabouts, to which the PS informed that they’re unaware of any such incidents. By 3:30 pm, information was received regarding the return of Kishore Sardar to his home, while the other 2 remains missing.
Latest Updates (as of 11:30 pm):
As per credible sources, it has been known that the 2 missing persons are Shraddha Biswas and another male person who is yet to be identified. As per the latest reports, Shraddha Biswas is one of the sister-in-law of veteran communist leader Comrade Gour Chakraborty. She was allegedly a Maoist political worker active in Jharkhand. Facing severe State repression and encirclement-annihilation campaign of State forces in Saranda Forest, she, along with another alleged Maoist political worker, entered Bengal to receive treatment for malaria. Shraddha Biswas was severely ill and vomiting while she was being treated on humanitarian grounds by the member of APDR, who was unaware of her alleged political background. Credible information has also been received a few hours ago, that these 2 political prisoners under illegal custody of State Agencies conducting joint operations (STF Bengal + STF Kolkata + Jharkhand Police) have been handed over to Jharkhand Police and they face high risk of being extra judicially murdered in fake “encounter” by early morning of 12th May. A habeas corpus petition is being moved in Calcutta HC, demanding the whereabouts of these 2 missing political workers and anticipating their life being under risk within the illegal custody of State Agencies.
