Peoples Defense Committee

[This article was edited to include the following statement from the national leadership of the Peoples Defense Committee on 5/25/2025]

The national leadership of the Peoples Defense Committee has received news from the Forum Against Corporatization and Militarization (FACAM) of the martyrdom of 27 members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), who were killed by the Brahmanical Hindutva Fascist state. In this massacre General Secretary Basavaraj of the CPI (Maoist) was killed alongside his comrades.

The news and information provided by the FACAM comrades contradicts the account of the massacre given by the Indian state, as it appears that the killing encounter was another staged encounter, in which the Indian state brought captured prisoners, including comrade Basavaraj to a location and massacred them in cold blood. These staged encounters are a common propaganda tactic of the Indian state that aims to erase the brutality of the State’s repression and claim that unarmed peasants are guerrilla fighters or that actual Maoists were killed in firefights when instead they were killed extrajudicially after receiving medical treatment or after being captured. This is done in order to justify further massacres of the people.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the Martyrdom of General Secretary Basavaraj and his 26 comrades. The heroic struggles of the Indian proletariat and peasantry, and the struggles of the Adivasi people in particular, inspire our class all over the world. People’s Defense Committee condemns this horrid crime and demands that the Indian State end its brutal campaign of extermination in Bastar and the whole country.

We call on all revolutionary and class-conscious forces in the United States and internationally to engage in solidarity actions in support of the Indian comrades, to condemn this massacre perpetuated by the reactionary Indian State, and to stand in solidarity with the revolutionary workers and peasants struggle in India.

DOWN WITH THE SO-CALLED “ANTI-NAXAL” OPERATIONS!

LONG LIVE THE HEROIC STRUGGLES OF THE INDIAN PEOPLE!

LONG LIVE THE INDIAN REVOLUTION!

New Labor Press

New Labor Press has received a communication from the Forum Against Corporatization and Militarization (FACAM) that today, May 21, 2025, the decrepit and reactionary Indian State perpetuated a heinous massacre against the revolutionary comrades of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). During this massacre, 27 revolutionaries were killed including Comrade Basavaraj, the General Secretary of CPI (Maoist). We are told there are reports that he was shot in cold blood while receiving medical treatment.

The revolutionary struggle of the Indian masses and their party, CPI (Maoist), is a heroic beacon for all comrades, workers, and oppressed peoples around the world. To crush this powerful movement, the Indian State has resorted to the most evil and profound repression, engaging in a bloody extermination campaign against the Maoists and the broad masses who support them. In particular this campaign has been the most brutal in the rural areas of Bastar, where this massacre took place.

New Labor Press condemns this massacre in no uncertain terms and calls on the Indian State to end its brutal campaign of extermination in Bastar and the whole country. We support the workers and toiling masses of India in their revolutionary struggle to end their exploitation and oppression and we call on all revolutionary and class-conscious forces in the United States and internationally to engage in solidarity and actions in support of the Indian comrades, to condemn this massacre perpetuated by the reaction Indian State, and stand in unity with FACAM and CPI(Maoist).

Down with the so-called “Anti-Naxal” Operations!

Long Live the Indian Revolution!

Revolutionary Student Union

Revolutionary Student Union has received a communication today from the Forum Against Corporatization and Militarization (FACAM) on the vile and bloody massacre against 27 revolutionary comrades of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). This massacre is part of the Operation Kagar, which is orchestrated by the Indian State aiming at eliminating Maoist-led resistance to the reactionary regime. Comrade Basavaraj, the General Secretary of CPI (Maoist), who was kidnapped by the Indian State when seeking medical treatments was murdered among other martyrs.

The revolutionary struggle of the Indian masses, under the leadership of their party, CPI (Maoist), is a great example for all revolutionaries, workers, youth, and oppressed peoples around the world. Although the fascist Indian state repeatedly attempted to wipe out the Maoists and the masses who support them with massacres and extermination campaigns, the Indian revolutionary movement keeps carrying its committed struggle forward. Indian students and youth were always active participants in this struggle for equality and socialism, who gave up their privileges and joined the struggle of Indian peasants and workers in the jungle and the countryside, shedding blood to defend and advance people’s rights and power.

Revolutionary Student Union condemns this massacre and calls on the Indian state to end its brutal campaign of extermination in Bastar and the whole country. We pay our tribute to the revolutionary students and youth in India, and vow to take them as our example to develop the anti-imperialist and revolutionary struggle in the United States. We stand with the workers and the oppressed masses in their revolutionary struggle to end all exploitation and oppression they face and call on all revolutionary and anti-imperialist students and youth in the United States and across the world to engage in solidarity and actions to condemn this massacre conducted by the fascist Indian State and stand with FACAM and CPI (Maoist).
